User Reviews about TomTom XL 350TM 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Lifetime Traffic & Maps Edition)
IQ Routes and Mapshare work very well.
The other user's complaints about the dumbed-down interface
are mostly fixed with 9.150 version of the TomTom software.
I like being able to download a start-up and a shutdown picture.
I will most likely replace the mount by a Pro-clip car specific mount.
Overall, quite satisfied with the purchase. -- Great GPS especially with TomTom app version 9.150+
I've never wrote a review before, but I was so excited when I updated my 350 today I just had to. The update adds some missing features to the gps, including a text listing of driving directions and some extra options including the ability to avoid certain roads in that list. It also now enables the user to set the brightness of the unit and show a text display of the direction your vehicle is driving in (i.e. SW, W, etc). It also added many more customization options. In short this new update gave the unit many of the features that other gps's and previous TomTom models already had. Plus it keeps all the positives on the new Easy Menu. This brings the unit from three stars to five in my opinion. I definitely wouldn't hesitate buying it now. -- Update provides TEXT DIRECTIONS and MUCH more!!
Purchased this GPS because I liked my husbands. Easy to use and operate. Recommend it to others. -- TOM TOM 350
I'm not going to go into a long winded review. This GPS is overall very good. Graphics are nice and sharp and easy to read. The interface is pretty easy to use while driving and there's a lot of information available to you while in navigation mode. The traffic alert system works wonderfully and actually shows you a visual representation of the traffic in "browse map" mode much the same way Google maps does. I find it's usually pretty accurate too. Yeah, the unit can be a little slow a times, but I've found very few GPS's that aren't. Overall, I'd say this is a keeper. There's just one problem that drives me bananas. There's no way to view the turn list. You have no idea where this thing is sending you and you just have to follow it blindly. You can see the route in map mode but that's tedious. Why wouldn't they think to include this necessary and pretty much standard feature? Even my previous Tomtom 100 that I bought for $89 had this feature. Boggles the mind. If that doesn't bother you, then go for it. I might be taking mine back however for this very reason. -- Great device if you're the trusting type.
This is our first GPS and we love it. It does exactly what we wanted it to do which was get us from Ohio to South Carolina for our vacation without getting us lost, sending us way out in the middle of nowhere, etc. We've had a lot of issues with using mapquest, phone GPS, etc in the past so we were concerned about it getting us lost in the mountains or sending us to some tiny town in the middle of nowhere like last year with a borrowed GPS. We fully charged it before we left and it held the charge for 5 hours of constant use. We weren't able to get it to charge or turn on by using the cigarette adapter, but we had an ac/dc adapter in the car for my laptop so we just plugged in into that and it charged just fine.
The times/miles were pretty accurate though it did seem to have a lag time if you changed from the pre-planned route.
I'm sure there are other GPS' out there that offer a lot more bells and whistles, but this is perfect for someone who just wants a basic GPS with a simple interface. I also like that we don't have to buy new maps and updates like I've heard friends having to do. It did take about 90 minutes for me to do the first update from the computer, but that was no big deal. I'm looking forward to using this on more trips. -- Perfect for a first GPS or if you just want the basics
