User Reviews about RightWay 400 GPS Navigator with 4.3-Inch Screen - Mulit-stop Route Optimizer and Gas Calculator

I bought this product for my MOM who is not to savy with electronic products.
She loves this thing and it was easy for Her to set up.
And with the big screen,it`s easy for Her to see.
Excellent product for the price.
More bang for your buck. -- Excellent Product
this product is inexpensive and very functional. it not only show the direction of travel, it also speak when it is time to change direction. product is easy to use. -- great product
I think this product is worth its money. I found it a little slow, takes a little longer in determining the original position. The map is also old, gets confused on the new roads!

Overall I am happy with it. -- Good Boy a little confused at time!!
This unit does not compare to even a low-end Garmin or TomTom. But, if you can get this GPS for around $40, consider it. It's not bad for that price. I would not be willing to pay more though, and here's why:

1. The maps are out-dated, at least in my area. There are roads that have been around here since 2000 and they are just white space on the GPS. I called support and they claim that this is a 2009 map on it. Yeah, right. 1999 maybe. For this reason alone I don't think I can trust it completely 100% of the time. I've been bringing a google maps print out as backup which kinda defeats the purpose. Biggest drawback for me.

2. The power switch is cumbersome and hard to slide. This is an annoyance on many GPS systems though. Why it can't just be a push button I'll never know.

3. High loading and satellite positioning time, especially if you are in motion.

4. GPS positioning is a bit off. The unit shows you coming up on a road that you already passed, or it will show it as passed when it's coming up. Not consistent. While the the graphics are sharp and clear, it jumps a lot to reposition you on the map. Newer higher-end GPS's are usually very fluid.

5. A stylus? Are you serious? Talk about an accident waiting to happen. Though it's true you don't really need a stylus for much of the menu navigation, a lot of menu items are very close together and you need something narrow to point at what you actually want.

6. Manually putting in an address can be a frustrating experience, even when adding your current position as a favorite.

7. Separate mini USB and DC power adapter ports. Garmin and TomTom use the same one, and it is more convenient.

8. Since this brand is not well known, accessories are very hard to find and expensive. I wanted a replacement DC charger. I looked on Amazon, craigslist, ebay.... the only place you can find it is on the Rightway website, and they were charging $25 PLUS shipping! No Thanks!

9. I've only had this item for a couple of months, and I have seen the Rightway website crash more than once. I don't know if it's a fluke, but there you go.

10. The mp3 player feature is dumb and useless. Just a poorly executed gimmic. Too bad they didn't drop the mp3 player idea and work on the stuff I mentioned above. :/ -- It's no Garmin or TomTom, but it's probably better than a map... Usually
