The GPS is good, but I received an error when I tried put other map. -- GPS is good

Before you buy, you may want to know that map updates are available (if necessary) for free during the first 30 days after purchase. After that, map updates are $75, which seems high. That is almost the current cost of the GPS new. I had to update it as soon as I bought it and customer service was excellent. They sent me a SD card with the update and I received it 4 days after I called.

To do the update, you have to update the firmware first. If not, the update will not work and you will need help. You update it by downloading the firmware update file from their web site, then connect the GPS to your USB port and withing a few minutes, it is done. You can do that before you get the SD map update. When you get the SD card, just insert it, push the reset button, and you are updated.

I does a good job of receiving the GPS signals and does an OK job of selecting routes. It does not have a lot of the bells and whistles of some other GPS systems, but it seems to be reliable and works well for the price. -- What You Need to Know

I was just wondering if this will work outdoors, in the wilderness. If it can track rivers, lakes and bays? We were caught out in a snow storm/white out and it would be helpful to have a gps. -- wilderness
